Can I moan about the weather again!!!

What is going on with this weather? 95 degrees in New York on the first week and now that I am out on the road a very chilly 54 degrees. What is going on?

Awoke this morning to a dull day with reports of rain heading in, so dressed for the occasion, waterproof and waterproof liner in jacket. I'm glad I did because even though I only went through a couple of very small showers, it was bloody freezing!!! The wind was blowing well, and add the windchill from travelling at 60mph and you can imagine I was a bit chilled. I covered about 80 miles and decided that I would have to stop to refuel, both me and the bike. After a hot drink it was back out onto the interstate and another spell of about 90 mins before stopping again for some lunch.

Pulled of the Interstate, and what do I find? A choice between McDonald's or Burger King!! Whilst sitting eating lunch I met a biker from New Jersey who was taking pretty well the same route as my first part of the trip, up through Michigan and across to Montana before dropping down to South Dakota and back home, This equates to about a third of my trip but he was doing it in 13 days. He was going to be putting in some serious mileage, I don't know how because my backside is killing me after an hour on the bike. It certainly needs hardening up a bit.

The bike is drawing quite a bit of attention when it is parked up, as is the number plate. People are coming up and asking about the bike and which state the plate is from. It would appear that the Blackbird is a pretty rare beast in this neck of the woods.

Today I did 237 miles, then a further 39 miles trying to locate a bookstore as I had finished my book last night and had nothing to read. I visited a small city named Akron and believe it or not there was only one store selling books in the city centre and that had about 20 titles only. Don't these people read? I ended up going to a Wall mart and finding something suitable from there small selection (and I mean small)

Tomorrow will be another day of about 200miles up past Cleveland and Toledo and on to Dearborn on the outskirts of Detroit. I then intend to take a day out and visit the Henry Ford Museum, a large hanger type place (and grounds) where Henry Ford stored all the stuff he collected over the years, including houses lived in by famous american inventors, which he bought up and shipped to the grounds. Should be interesting. I will also travel across Detroit to a camping shop that I have earmarked, from where I intend to buy my tent and sleeping bag etc so that I can start sleeping under the stars and save on hotel bills.

Road kill was down today. only 1 complete deer and a few bits that like remains of deer - well I've got to look at something whilst riding.

I have now crossed New Jersey (the Garden State) and Pennsylvania (the Keystone State) and am now in Ohio (the Buckeye State), tomorrow will be Michigan (the Wolverine State). If anyone is interested I could tell you the state bird, tree and flower ---No!---Oh well.
