Still Moving.

First your education.
Wisconsin is the Badger State, the national bird is the Robin (American not British - like a Blackbird with red chest), Tree is the Sugar Maple - nice and the flower is the Wood Violet.
Minnesota is the Gopher State, bird is the common Loon (swears a lot and has tattoos ((sorry jo)), tree is the Red Pine and the flower is the Ladys Slipper.
Am now in North Dakota so, The Peace Garden State?, bird is the Western Meadowlark, tree is the American Elm (not dying like the English one) and the flower is the Wild Prairie Rose. So you are now up to date.
Getting along quite well, camped again last night and had a chipmunk running around me, went over my feet at one point, also spend ages watching a bird that looked very like a woodpecker but he was not pecking.
Woke early - again, in shower at 6.05am, broke camp and was on the road by 7.15 - and this is a holiday!
The land today has been totally flat again from horizon to horizon. I have never seen land so flat. The roads are again dead straight and if you stop you can see the road stretching in front and behind. The only thing to break the flatness are a few trees planted around the few buildings, as wind breaks no doubt. Rode over a snake today so added a little bit to the road kill myself. It was about 2ft long and sort of reared up just before I hit it. Don't know what sort it was.
Today has been nice and warm with temp in the low 80's, nice as you are going along but hot when you stop.
The only problem I am having is the flies. my helmet needs cleaning every 20 miles or so otherwise I cannot see out of the visor. The front of the bike is covered with dead flies as are the leading edges of the panniers. Will have to try to clean the bike tonight.
The towns I am passing through at the moment are very very small, blink and you miss them, in consequence I cannot get a signal on my phone so cannot text Chris to let her know where I am and what I am up to.
I have stopped for the night in a hotel at Devils Lake, North Dakota - camp one hotel one, plus they have forecast a storm tonight. Wuss. The hotel is nice for $63, the room is a double with twin queen beds, fridge and microwave and its own private door to the pool area, so I think a Wash in the pool is in order tonight.
Forgot to tell you, at the Henry Ford Museum Jed found a scale articulated lorry that was just about his size and has been leering after Harley Davidson's as well, well today he went one better, he has found a tank at the side of the road from the Vietnam war, he has decided that he will be taking over the world now. I will try to post a photo if I can work out how.
Tomorrow I head across North Dakota and MAY make it into Montana, however, according to how my bum feels I just fall short.
Will post when I can.

Hi Nick,

Look on the bright side, if you have to stop every 20 or so miles to clean your visor, that means you can have a bum break every 20 miles as well. also on the seat front, after a BMW seat I have found just about every bike has a plank for a seat.

Be careful what you let Jed get up to, Small people in big toys are not good, think Napoleon, or Hitler, they were both small with grand ideas and look what happened to them.
Been plotting the trip again on Google, them there lakes don't look too big from about 35000 ft.as you fly over them in a 747, but as you use Google they are just a little bit bigger than Mooragh Park Lake.

Keep shiny side up ( with or without flies).
